Until the 1970s, Hunza had no roads and its people had never seen a car or a plane.
Today, it is a thriving tourist destination that retains the beauty, culture, and calm magic of the past.
Explore Altit Fort, Lady Finger Peak, Nagar Valley, and Hoper Glacier. In Hunza, each step has a tale.

Shimshal

Village of Mountaineers & Mountain Women

Tucked deep in the Karakorams, Shimshal is a proud village of climbers, where the community protects its land and traditions.

Women own goats and yaks, leading them high into the mountains each summer to earn income—and send their daughters to school.

The road to Shimshal, built just a few years ago by locals, is a breathtaking ride—wild, winding, and carved above deep ravines.

This is more than a village—it’s a story of strength, pride, and self-reliance.
